LOS ANGELES, CA – DGC/Interscope Records rock band Street Drum Corps will perform on FOX’s top-rated TV show “American Idol” Wednesday, May 19th at 9pm EST/8pm CST, just one suspenseful week away from the Season 9 finale. The band will be backing labelmate Travis Garland when he sings his debut single, “Believe.”

Street Drum Corps frontman Bobby Alt effuses, “It’s a great honor for SDC to perform on American Idol! We are fans of the show and are excited to be a part of such a great production accompanying our labelmate and very talented friend, Travis Garland.”

Viewers are encouraged to point their mobile QR readers on Street Drum Corps’ custom T-shirts during the “American Idol” performance to unlock a special video greeting message from the band members online. Bobby Alt explains, “I first came across QR technology on a recent trip to Japan and was blown away by the possibilities. I thought the advanced barcoding system would be a great marketing tool for our forthcoming album, and wearing QR-coded shirts on ‘American Idol’ is our first foray of many into this amazing, new technology terrain.”
Hailing from Los Angeles, Street Drum Corps who is Bobby Alt, Adam Alt and Frank Zummo, have been called “Soo good” by the New York Post, declared “A rapturous band of misfit drummers” by the Los Angeles Weekly and were featured in Alternative Press Magazine’s “Most Anticipated Albums of 2010” issue. The band’s upcoming album produced by Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, All-American Rejects) boasts an eclectic mix of the band’s trademark drumming on found objects and fully realized rock/pop songs with Bobby Alt on vocals.

Having recently electrified fans across the U.S. and Europe on tour with 30 Seconds To Mars and dates with The Used, Street Drum Corps is putting the finishing touches on their major label debut due out late summer.
