RIHANNA’S LAST GIRL ON EARTH TOUR with KE$HA took a swing by the Comcast Center in MA and delivered one of the best performances that I have ever seen. Rihanna gave her fans more in the first few songs then most artists do in an entire set. Rihanna is more than just a beauty from Barbados she is an accomplished vocalist and performer in every way. Rihanna entered the stage in a beautifully red lit elegant black dress and was raised on a platform while she sang “Russian Roulette”. Her voice is just so amazing live and it resonates so beautifully. There are several singers that are popular that I always wonder what people see in them and then there are the true professionals like Rihanna that after just one note you know why and how they got where they are. I’ve always been a fan of Rihanna but this is the first time that I had the chance to see her live and she did not disappoint. Rihanna deserves to be on the top of the charts and you really need to check out this tour.Rihanna was backed by a phenomenal band that featured the guitar player from EXTREME, NUNO BETTENCOURT. They were tight and of course Nuno is flashy so it worked and added another dimension to Rihanna’s already flawless set. I’ve always been a fan of theatrics and Rihanna took them to the next level and incorporated her amazing dancers into the mix. Her dancers did not perform fluff pieces but rather raw, gritty and deep into the floor movements of absolute beauty. I can’t help but feel that some performers do not want their dancers to outshine them on stage so they are limited to doing lame choreography but Rihanna clearly doesn’t buy into that and she uses her dancers to their full

potential. I love that and it only increases the power of her performance. Rihanna had props galore on stage and while performing “Hard” she sang on a pink canon that blew smoke while wearing mouse ears. For “Shut Up and Drive” she rode in a car with her backup singers and then they took a bat to the car. One of the dancers was also dressed liked a crash test dummy while doing the most amazing head spins I have ever seen.

KE$HA opened the show and performed an interesting set full of glitter, makeup and really short shorts, ok enough about her male dancers and let’s focus on Ke$ha. I caught Ke$ha on SNL and I loved her use of black light makeup and her unabashed performance. For this show she had a pretty crafty stage setup that was lit to perfection. The front of the stage featured a few strategically placed doll heads to highlight the cozy chic atmosphere that was full of lights, sparkle, skeletons and crinkle curtains. The audience really went wild when she sang, TIK TOK. I enjoyed her performance and what she brought to the tour.

Rihanna is amazing live and you owe it to yourself to check out her LAST GIRL ON EARTH tour when it hits your area. I can’t stress enough what you will be missing if you don’t.
