SHAMELESS Advance Review “The American Dream” Showtime

Shameless got off to a spectacular start last week and I can honestly tell you that you haven’t seen anything yet.  Frank Gallagher (William H. Macy) is just getting started.  He has been reborn into a scummier version of himself.  He takes things too far, even for Frank.  Tonight’s episode, “The American Dream,” is written by Nancy M. Pimental and directed by Anthony Hemingway.

Fiona (Emmy Rossum) struggles with her decision to give Meg (Diora Baird) a thousand dollars.  Will she be able to pull off a successful club night?  She needs to make the money back to pay the overdue property tax.  What has she gotten herself into?  Luckily, Jimmy (Justin Chatwin) is present to lighten the mood by showing her just how comfortable he is around her.  Jimmy really knows how to keep the romance alive.

When Frank comes stumbling in no one cares about his piss clarification they just want him to leave, with the exception of Debbie (Emma Kenney).  Debbie is Frank’s only ally.   After all of the rotten things that he has done, Debbie still loves Frank. Is there anything that Frank could possibly do to lose Deb’s support?  Emma does a brilliant job playing Debbie, and she is the highlight of this episode.

Jimmy/Steve has a close, new friend that is making his life a bit more interesting.  Do you think he got the message when he had to help dismember a body?  Jimmy finds himself in trouble and is forced to pay for it.

After a scary awakening, Sheila (Joan Cusack) and Jody (Zach McGowan) finally get some sleep thanks to an unlikely “baby whisperer.”

Kevin (Steve Howey) and Veronica (Shanola Hampton) are put to the ultimate test.  How hilarious were their videos?  They really went all out with the costumes and wigs.

Love him or hate him, you have to give Frank credit for his resiliency. How the hell is he still alive? He is so proud of his recent trip to Mexico and the record that he set.  Let’s just hope that he doesn’t decide to put out his own fashion line.  I think he also owes a “friend” a plumber.

Lip’s (Jeremy Allen White) community service gig opens news doors for him.

Tonight you get to see boundaries tested, Frank at his scummiest, and so much more.  This show continues to amaze me.  If you are not watching it you are missing out.  Do not miss tonight’s hilarious episode of Shameless at 9, only on Showtime.
