AMERICAN HORROR STORY: COVEN Advance Review “Go to Hell”

voodooAre you ready for the second to last episode of American Horror Story: Coven?  I can’t believe the season is almost over.  One of tonight’s highlights is the return of Papa Legba, played by Lance Reddick. “Go to Hell” – Cordelia’s latest vision puts the Coven’s future in question.  With the end of Fiona’s reign approaching, the girls manifest powerful new gifts.  Queenie’s search for Marie Laveau leads her to Hell and back.

Last week’s team up of Delphine (Kathy Bates) and Spalding (Denis O’Hare) was priceless.  She thought he had the solution to her Marie (Angela Bassett) problem, but as it turned out the only thing he had a leg-up on was allergies.  I’m going to miss Spalding.  No one can wear a bonnet quite like him.  I hope we get to see him in the finale next week.

Tonight you will learn about The Seven Wonders.  They are “seven acts of magic so advanced, each pushes the boundaries of craft into art.”  Tempting them may just get you killed, so the stakes are high.  Who do you think the front-runner is?

As Queenie (Gabourey Sidibe) searches for Marie, she finds herself in a very wretched place.

nullTEXTFiona (Jessica Lange) demands respect, but has she earned it?  She can’t even find the time to remember someone’s proper name.

Cordelia (Sarah Paulson) wants to uncover secrets in a “time of crisis.”  Cordelia is such a sweet tortured soul.  How the hell is she even related to Fiona?  I’m still voting for her as the new Supreme.

While watching this episode you will find yourself questioning what your personal hell would consist of.  Would it be that never-ending line at the DMV? How about Devil’s Due in constant rotation?  Think long and hard about that one for a moment.  Papa Legba (Lance Reddick) is very clear about time moving differently in hell, so I honestly think that the DMV is already located in hell.  I’m so glad that they brought Papa back.  Lance really put his sinister shoes on to play the part perfectly.

AHS_0624Delphine is right up there with Hannibal as in the food is not people, but from people.  I hope you weren’t snacking while you were tuning in last week.  Good grief!  That was despicable madness, glorious despicable madness.  This show never ceases to amaze me and that’s why I love it so.  Well, Delphine sets some records tonight.

Fiona’s beauty is limitless.  She takes her rightful place amongst the witches and they WILL respect her.  You have to respect Jessica Lange for bringing such grace and class to all of the roles that she takes on.  She is the true definition of a film star.  You have to watch her in Hush with Gwyneth Paltrow.  It’s a shame that we only have one more episode to enjoy Fiona and the rest of these intriguing characters.  At least Jessica is already slated to come back next season.

Cordelia speaks the truth and her words of encouragement inspire.  Why has it taken so long for her sweet voice to be heard?

The Axeman (Danny Huston) saved the day last week and his deeds have not been forgotten.  We will see more of him tonight.  No one can wield an axe quite like him.  But remember to never disturb him.  You don’t want to end up in his tub, now do you?

Myrtle (Frances Conroy) is the queen of fashion references.  I love her more and more every week.  I would love to own her black and white polka dot blouse.  That was simply gorgeous.

You are not going to want to miss tonight’s episode.  Remember kids – “Eventually, everybody pays; everybody suffers.”  That will be all of us next week after the season ends.   I don’t want to say good-bye.

American Horror Story: Coven airs Wednesday nights at 10 on FX.
