FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH WIN TWO METAL HAMMER GOLDEN GODS AWARDS IN LONDON FOLLOWING CONTROVERSIAL DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL PERFORMANCE

BAND TO PLAY “JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE” AUGUST 17

Los Angeles, CA – (June 21, 2010) As they gear up for this summer’s Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival, where they’ll be sharing the main stage alongside Korn, Rob Zombie and Lamb of God, Five Finger Death Punch are making waves around the globe.

Last weekend, the quintet won back-to-back hardware at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards in London for “Best Breakthrough Band” and “Best Shredder” for guitarist and band-founder Zoltan Bathory. Death Punch won last year for “Best New Band” at the Golden Gods Awards, making them three-for-three with winning awards at the heralded annual ceremony.  5FDP also marked the occasion with a blazing performance at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards, televised on BBC.

A few days earlier, 5FDP caused even more buzz and controversy with their explosive performance at the Download Festival in Donington, UK. At the end of their set, the crowd of 90,000 became so rowdy that the festival shut down the PA.  Crowd surfers rushed the stage to shake the hand of 5FDP front man Ivan Moody, which created a historically out of control atmosphere on the festival grounds.

While concert-goers were upset that the show was stopped, the buzz has been palpable.  In their live review of 5FDP’s Download set, Kerrang! Magazine said it “bolstered their reputation as metal’s big stars in waiting.”  The performance at the festival caused a huge jump in UK sales this week.

The same fervor continues here in the US, where front man Ivan Moody graces the cover of Revolver Magazine (for their upcoming Mayhem preview issue) dressed as Frankenstein – one of the “Monsters of Mayhem.”

5FDP’s current single, “Bad Company,” is igniting radio charts in the US everywhere- as one of the best-testing and most reactive songs of the last several years in rock.  The band will be performing the song during their August 17th performance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” The band is touring in support of their latest album, War Is The Answer, which entered Billboard‘s Top 200 Album Chart at No. 7 and has sold more than a quarter-million copies to date. The album has spawned six straight hits at rock radio, while generating more than 25 million plays on MySpace.
