KORN III: REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE DEBUTS AT #2 ON BILLBOARD TOP 200
INTERNATIONAL NUMBERS TOP LAST RELEASE STATS
New York, NY: Korn’s ninth studio album, Korn III: Remember Who You Are, which Spin described as “packing pain by the pound,” debuted today at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 sales charts. The album sold 63,000 copies. The album also debuted at #1 on the Hard Music Chart, both top and current, and is #1 on the Current Alternative Chart, as well. Korn III is the band’s seventh album to land in the Top 5.
Internationally, Korn III debuted Top 5 in Austria, Canada, Japan, Germany and New Zealand, Top 10 in Australia, Mexico and Switzerland and Top 20 in France, Denmark and Holland, with several countries yet to report. In almost every International market, these chart positions have exceeded the chart debuts from their previous albums.
Korn III has been universally praised, as it finds the Bakersfield, California band returning “to the sound and rawness of their first two records” (MetroMix.) The album certainly signifies a revisiting of Korn’s sturdy, firmly planted roots; they once again worked with producer Ross Robinson, who twiddled the knobs for their first two albums, yet Korn still play to the strengths and growth that they’ve experienced as a unit for the past two decades. Billboard proclaimed that Korn III “moves forward more than it retrenches” and “introduces some fresh dynamic sensibilities.” ARTISTdirect awarded the album five stars and declared that Korn IIII has “that gripping catharsis that made millions of people believers on Korn and Life Is Peachy. However, Korn stand even stronger than they did during those first two masterpieces.”
Korn are currently on tour, co-headlining the main stage of the third annual Rock Star Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, which is enjoying a 30% uptick in sales this year, bucking the trend of a down summer touring season that is seeing several cancellations.
Korn is Jonathan Davis (vocals), Fieldy (bass), James “Munky” Shaffer (guitar) and Ray Luzier (drums).
