RAISING HOPE OFFICIAL FOX PRESS RELEASE: RAISING HOPE is the critically acclaimed single-camera comedy from Emmy Award winner Greg Garcia that follows the Chance family as they find themselves raising the newest addition to the household. Months after a romantic encounter with a wanted felon, 23-year-old JIMMY CHANCE (Lucas Neff) learns he is the father of a bouncing baby girl. Once coasting along through life in the slow lane, Jimmy now faces his toughest job yet: being a dad. Jimmy’s quirky family members – mother VIRGINIA (Martha Plimpton), father BURT (Garret Dillahunt) and great-grandmother MAW MAW (Cloris Leachman) – are less than enthusiastic about the little one. His parents, who had him when they were 15, never knew anything about raising a child and have little interest in trying again. And Maw Maw…well, keeping her in check is a full-time job. Jimmy may be able to get some help from SABRINA (Shannon Woodward), a sardonic checkout clerk he met at the supermarket if only he can work up the nerve to ask her out. Despite it all, Jimmy is determined to take care of his baby – whom Virginia named HOPE. With very few useful skills but their hearts in the right place, will the Chances be successful in the unpredictable and immensely challenging world of parenting? RAISING HOPE is produced by Amigos de Garcia Productions in association with 20th Century Fox Television. Garcia serves as executive producer on the series.
TO LIE, TO CHEAT OR TO STEAL ON AN ALL-NEW “RAISING HOPE” TUESDAY, APRIL 19, ON FOX, Jerry Van Dyke (“Yes, Dear”) Guest-Star. Maw Maw becomes smitten with a man she meets at Dead Tooth’s daycare. Meanwhile, Jimmy takes Sabrina to visit her college boyfriend, Wyatt, whom she suspects is cheating on her. Things go completely awry when Wyatt, desperate to win back Sabrina’s love, takes Sabrina and Jimmy on a very scary ride in the all-new “Cheaters” episode of RAISING HOPE airing Tuesday, April 19 (9:01-9:31 PM ET/PT) on FOX. I spoke with MARTHA PLIMPTON and GREG GARCIA about RAISING HOPE. Martha is such an incredible and diverse actor and she transitions perfectly from playing a serial killer in “Law & Order: CI” to a loveable mom in RAISING HOPE. She has been is so many fantastic films and shows, so I will just name a few of my favorites; “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”, “Pecker”, “The Goonies”, “Running on Empty”, “The Mosquito Coast”, “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” and “Parenthood”. It was such a pleasure to speak with both of them. Greg Garcia has gifted us so many splendid series including: “My Name is Earl”, “Yes, Dear” and now RAISING HOPE. Greg knows how to present us with characters that we can relate to in an odd way.
