“Brick” Sons of Anarchy Season 4 Episode 5 Advance Review, Airing 10/4/2011

This week on SONS OF ANARCHY, we meet Dondo (David Hasselhoff) and he apparently has a lot to offer us according to Jax (Charlie Hunnam).  “Brick” really answers some questions about the past and unleashes a storm of betrayal, fury and madness that is going to change everyone’s lives forever.  Do not miss this pivotal episode.  “Brick” – SAMCRO enlists a former foe to help stop the advancement of Charming Heights, while the Sheriff presses Juice for more information.  Written by Dave Erickson and Brady Dahl; directed by Paris Barclay.

Last week Tig (Kim Coates) threatened a little bunny but he didn’t follow through, so I have forgiven him but my bunny son, not so much.  I will make sure I never watch Fatal Attraction in his presence.  On a serious note, I would love to know how many takes it took them to film that scene and how Kim reacted to it when he first read the script.  I bet he felt ashamed, holding a knife to a bunny.  Luckily, all bunnies attend the Zoolander Modeling School, so they have one look that works for every occasion.  Okay, I got all of my bunny comments out of the way, for now.

“Brick” begins with our favorite off screen power couple, Gemma (Katey Sagal) and Otto (Kurt Sutter) and questions about Luanne’s death were brought up and as you can imagine, Otto wants answers and he poses his own question.

Sheriff Roosevelt (Rockmond Dunbar) runs into Juice (Theo Rossi) and makes it known to him that he has “important friends.”   Juice didn’t choose his race but he has chosen to become the incredible man that he is and that should warrant love and support from the club.   Racism is disgusting.   Juice has prime placement this season and I don’t know if that is such a good thing for him.  The web that they are weaving for him is so intense but I love how we are finding out so much more about him and how his character responds to various situations.  He could come out of this a better man or not come out at all.

Piney (William Lucking) spends some alone time speaking with Clay (Ron Perlman) and we get some “vivid pics” of what went on in the past and what Piney wants to see happen in the very near future.

Gemma and Clay reach an agreement but I think it’s safe to say that Clay had his fingers crossed.

Unser (Dayton Callie) always seems to be stuck in the middle of everything and this week he is in his usual location, “between a big rock and a really hard place.”  At least everyone seems to come to him bearing gifts, so I guess that sweetens the pot a bit.

The boys visit the “island of the lesbos” and that is where we meet David Hasselhoff’s character, Dondo.  Well, what other island did you think Dondo would be on?  We already know that Opie (Ryan Hurst) doesn’t like to watch but that doesn’t mean that he will be saved from heartache.   On a side note, I think that Opie works as a hair model in his free time.  Have you noticed how perfect they always make his hair in the show?  I always have this vision of Opie doing an old school Pantene commercial, one of those, “Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful.” ads but updated.  I can’t be the only one that notices his hair.  Opie ends up having a “really rough” night and looks for answers in all the wrong places.  Opie has such sad eyes.

Linc (Ray McKinnon) really takes his snack time seriously and chooses only to acknowledge what he wants to hear.  His “magic curtain” will remain a mystery for now but when it is all revealed it isn’t going to be pretty.

One of my favorite lines in tonight’s episode is the question that Chibs (Tommy Flanagan) asks Juice when Juice has to leave.  Keep an ear out for that one because it could not have been summed up any better.

Clay gets reunited with someone that he has missed, Georgie Caruso (Tom Arnold), remember him.  Georgie may be able to offer some assistance and Dondo really wants to get involved but Jax puts the breaks on it and reminds us again of Dondo’s best asset.  Clay explains the differences between his rational men and Happy (David Labrava).  It must be kind of cool to have your own category that earns a special place in Clay’s heart.

There is a nice meeting at the end and that is all I will say.  I don’t want to give too much away.  This is definitely an episode not to miss.  A lot of things have been leading up to this and just wait until you see next week’s episode.  It is my favorite of the season so far.  Don’t miss an all new episode of SONS OF ANARCHY tonight only on FX.
