“With an X” Sons of Anarchy Season 4 Episode 6 Advance Review, Airing 10/11/2011

If you thought last week was intense, just wait until you visit Charming this week.  The tension is beyond excruciating and some things you just can’t come back from.  This is my favorite episode of the season, so far because it is a game changer and things go down.  “With an X” – SAMCRO’s relationship with the Cartel is in jeopardy when an important package is compromised.  Written by Chris Collins & Regina Corrado; directed by Guy Ferland.

Last week Jax (Charlie Hunnam) caught Opie (Ryan Hurst) with the resident whore and things got ugly.  That situation has not been forgotten and let me tell you, Gemma (Katey Sagal) is someone that you want on your side.  She has trained Tara (Maggie Siff) well.  I love it when Tara and Gemma join forces and it always makes me question why we need Superman and Batman when Tara and Gemma are always ready to throw down.  I always enjoy their playful conversations like when Gemma is asking Tara about the woman she has helping out with the kids and Gemma replies, “keep her away from Tig.”

Tig’s (Kim Coates) daughter is in town and she goes by several names; Donnie, Margox, Half of Satan’s Spawn and The Crazy One.   It’s nice to have so many options but monogramming towels would be a bitch.  Although, Half of Satan’s Spawn hand towels would go over well in any bathroom.  My favorite character, Chucky (Michael Ornstein) makes a new friend and if you need another reason to love Chucky, he comes prepared with lemonade.  Tig’s daughter has a “problem” to deal with and Bobby (Mark Boone Junior) thinks he has the answer and Tig’s reaction to him is fantastic.

You never want Happy (David Labrava) to say, “I’m waiting” to you while he is wearing his work gloves.  They are on a quest to find out what happened to the missing brick and the list of who could have taken it isn’t that long.  Jax gets demanding and goes old school on them and explains that it is about commitment and love for the club.   This is a powerful episode for Filthy Phil (Christopher Reed) and Ratboy (Niko Nicotera).

Piney (William Lucking) is coming to the end of his ropes and he lets his distaste for what has been going on be known and I back him up 100% on this one.  Thank you, Piney.  Old wounds are opened and salted and that just isn’t good for anyone.  Women may put up with a lot of crap but don’t ever think that we have forgotten about your past wrongdoings.  Jax and Opie are now Eskimo brothers and they should be very ashamed.  There isn’t enough bleach that could make that vileness go away.  Opie has to get over himself and realize that Donna can’t be replaced and he married a porn star, so what exactly was he expecting?  Lyla (Winter Ave Zoli) is her own person and should be treated as such. There is a moment at the end of the episode where you will find yourself cheering and thinking, it’s about time someone did that but then if you look at the big picture and what that represents, it isn’t right.  It’s an all new low that would have been better carried out by someone else.   You will be disappointed at yourself for getting excited, I know I was.

Clay (Ron Perlman) explains the “simple truth” to Unser (Dayton Callie).  My heart always aches for Unser.  All he ever wanted was peace in his town and he has been dragged into everything.  Unser does what he thinks is right and that always seems to bite him in the ass.

Clay is so cold and when dealing with finding out who stole the drugs his answer is simple, “sometimes the herd needs thinning.”   Ouch!  Juice (Theo Rossi) obviously is feeling the pressure and he wants to make sure that no one goes down so he comes up with a plan.  Clay’s conversation will be heard around the world tonight.

Obviously, I have only given you breadcrumbs and you will have to watch tonight to find your way to the gingerbread house in the woods but I will warn you, there is more than one witch inside.  Enjoy your night.  I love this episode and I am eagerly awaiting the next one.  Watch SONS OF ANARCHY tonight only on FX!
