Atlas Genius will join Silversun Pickups on tour this fall. The run kicks off on September 4th at Malkin Bowl in Vancouver, BC and will include shows at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in Santa Monica, CA (9/13) and Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom (9/21).
Prior to the dates with Silversun Pickups, the Adelaide, Australia-based band will embark on its first-ever U.S. tour, performing at the CD101 Summerfest at LC Pavilion in Columbus, OH on August 11 and then making its way west. Atlas Genius will play a series of dates with Animal Kingdom and wrap up the tour with radio shows in Seattle and Portland. See below for itinerary. Today Paste Magazine premieres a live acoustic video of “Symptoms,” a track from Atlas’ Genius debut EP, Through The Glass. Produced, engineered and mixed by the band in its home studio, Through The Glass also includes “Trojans,” which USA Today put on “the playlist,” noting: “[Atlas Genius] is off to a tart start with this irresistible pop single.” Nylon, which ran a feature on the trio in the summer music issue, said: “these guys have the summer’s next big anthem on lock.”
“Trojans” is already a Top 25 hit at Modern Rock radio, where it has been added by 30+ stations, including KNDD/Seattle, KNRK/Portland, KROX/Austin, KTBZ/Houston, WWCD/ Columbus, XTRA/San Diego and KITS/San Francisco. Atlas Genius initially released the track on SoundCloud last summer. Championed by Neon Gold and topping the Alt-18 countdown of SiriusXM’s Alt-Nation for four consecutive weeks, “Trojans” sold 45,000 copies before the band signed with Warner Bros. Records. The track has now sold over 60,000 downloads.
“Trojans” also peaked at No. 1 on Hype Machine and the We Are Hunted “Emerging Artist” chart. Xaphoon Jones of Chiddy Bang has just put his own unique spin on “Trojans,” with a remix that was recently premiered on Neon Gold. Neon Gold has also invited fans to put their own spin on “Trojans” themselves in the site’s first ever remix contest. Atlas Genius is currently hard at work in its home studio on its full-length debut album.
