Actor DJ Qualls of TNT’s Hit Series MEMPHIS BEAT Chats Live Online with Fans

TNT is giving fans of the soulful, bluesy drama series MEMPHIS BEAT the chance to chat online with star DJ Qualls who has stolen the hearts of fans as Davey Sutton, the show’s quirky, well-meaning uniform cop. With his sincere effort to solve Memphis’ most peculiar crimes and his eagerness to keep up with the best detectives in town, Sutton has become a beloved staple on this summer’s new hit series.
Fans can submit questions for Qualls to answer live via video on the MEMPHIS BEAT Facebook page and tnt.tv/chat at 11 a.m. (PT) / 2 p.m. (ET) on Tuesday, Aug. 10. Fans can also interact directly through webchat with Qualls as he answers questions.
MEMPHIS BEAT, which airs Tuesdays at 10/9c on TNT, is an offbeat series starring Jason Lee (My Name is Earl) as Dwight Hendricks, a unique Memphis police detective with an intimate connection to the city, a passion for blues music and a close relationship with his mother. Alfre Woodard (Three Rivers) plays Lt. Tanya Rice, a demanding boss determined to keep Dwight on a short leash. Also starring in MEMPHIS BEAT are Celia Weston (Junebug) as Dwight’s effervescent mother and Sam Hennings (Saving Grace) as Charlie White, aka Whitehead, Dwight’s seasoned, hypertensive partner.

DJ Qualls continues to build an interesting career for himself in a myriad of film and television roles. His credits include the critically acclaimed Hustle & Flow and the independent films Little Athens and I’m Reed Fish. He has also starred in Road Trip, The Core, The New Guy, Lone Star State of Mind, Chasing Holden, All About Steve, Delta Farce, Big Trouble, Cherry Falls and Mama’s Flora’s Family. In addition, Qualls co-produced and starred in the Lionsgate film Comic Book Villains, a dark comedy about the comic book industry and rival comic book stores
Qualls’ television credits include My Name is Earl, Criminal Minds, Lost, Monk, Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Scrubs.
Qualls grew up in a small town in middle Tennessee and is one of five children. After studying at the University of London, he returned to Tennessee and began a series of odd jobs before performing in local theatre and later being discovered by photographers David Chappelle and Steven Kline. This led to a lucrative career modeling for Prada, as well as many other advertising/editorial campaigns.
Qualls splits his time between Los Angeles and Tennessee. He is proud to be a cancer survivor and an advocate for cancer awareness and research.
